Loan Guidelines of PCHL Corfu
1. The Library’s materials (print and audiovisual) are available either for loan or for on-site use in the Library’s reading rooms.
2. Rare books, incunabula, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, periodicals, items from Special Closed Collections (Ionian), reference books, and informational materials (encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, albums) cannot be borrowed. Also, individual copies deemed necessary to remain in the Library for special reasons (e.g., materials that are out of print due to age and cannot be replaced in case of loss or damage) are not loaned.
3. Each member, upon presenting their Library card (physical or electronic), is entitled to borrow up to three (3) items. The loan period is twenty (20) days, with the possibility of one (1) renewal for an additional fifteen (15) days, provided the item has not been reserved by another member and the renewal request is made before the return date.
4. Items currently on loan can be reserved either by phone or through the member’s account in the Library’s Online Catalog (OPAC). When the item is returned and becomes available again, the member is notified by phone or email.
5. Each member is required to return borrowed materials on time and in the same condition as received. In case of loss or damage, the member must replace the item with an identical copy or, if it is out of print, with a similar edition from another publisher, preferably a more recent edition.
6. In case of late return, the member will receive a reminder (by phone or email). Repeated delays in returning materials may result in suspension of borrowing privileges or revocation of the member’s borrowing rights.
