Loan Guidelines of PCHL Corfu

1. The Library’s materials (print and audiovisual) are available either for loan or for on-site use in the Library’s reading rooms.

2. Rare books, incunabula, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, periodicals, items from Special Closed Collections (Ionian), reference books, and informational materials (encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, albums) cannot be borrowed. Also, individual copies deemed necessary to remain in the Library for special reasons (e.g., materials that are out of print due to age and cannot be replaced in case of loss or damage) are not loaned.

3. Each member, upon presentation of their card, is entitled to borrow material up to three (3) items . The loan period is twenty ( 20) days, with the possibility of one (1) renewal for fifteen (15) days if the member so desires and requests (by telephone, email, or in person) and before the return date has passed , provided that the item borrowed has not been reserved by another member.
After five (5) days from the return/renewal date, a 30-day loan suspension penalty is imposed.

Repeated delays in returning materials are sanctioned by the suspension of borrowing rights for a longer period of time and even the removal of the borrower’s membership.

4. Items currently on loan can be reserved either by phone or through the member’s account in the Library’s Online Catalog (OPAC). When the item is returned and becomes available again, the member is notified by phone or email.

5. Each member is required to return borrowed materials on time and in the same condition as received. In case of loss or damage, the member must replace the item with an identical copy or, if it is out of print, with a similar edition from another publisher, preferably a more recent edition.
